About the original work
This reproduction is based on the original painting by PEDRO PABLO Oliva , entitled La novia de Don Tinguaro , from the series Sillones de mimbre (Wicker Armchairs) (2013). It is an oil on canvas (68 × 48 cm) currently in a private collection. The work was exhibited and published in the catalogue of the exhibition Pequeñas cosas. Pedro Pablo Oliva (Latin Art Core gallery, Miami, Florida, USA), as well as in the book Extraños juegos. Pedro Pablo Oliva (2017, p. 293).
The wicker chair is one of Oliva's iconic representations, often used to depict the figures in his paintings. Occasionally inspired by stories from his childhood, the artist creates scenes that reflect those experiences. Tinguaro, a real figure from his neighborhood, is one of those Oliva chooses to immortalize in his paintings.
